If there’s but one constant in life, it’s change. We can’t avoid it, and we’re best not to resist it. Change can come into our lives because of a crisis, or, by choice or chance. In either case we are faced with having to make a choice – do we make the change or not? When we act upon our ability to choose, it provides us with more opportunity to make our lives better. And the more opportunities we create, the more happy and fulfilled our lives become. With this said, here the top things you can do in your life that will change your life for the better you want it to be.
One of the best things you can do is to spend some time figuring out what really matters to you. What gives your life meaning and purpose. Perhaps the answer lies in your dreams, or in what you like to talk about the most. Either way, a life with meaning is a life worth living. This is number one because it’ll set the path for the rest of the choices you’ll make.
Create A Dream Board
As children, we would daydream all the time. As adults, we’re too busy working and meeting our obligations. But dreams are what keep us going. The hope of fulfilling them is where we find our motivation in life. So take a moment to create a dream board. A board with images and words of everything you want to achieve. By putting down on paper (or cork) what’s in your mind, makes sure you keep your eyes on the prize(s).
Once you’ve figured out what you really want, plan it out. Plot out the steps that’ll get you to your goals. Remember though to be flexible, because while you’ll want to set your plans in stone, life often has other plans for you in mind.
Do Something Scary
You know when real growth happens? When we’re put in challenging situations. And nothing is more challenging than doing something that scares you. Be it public speaking or sky diving, the more you do things that scare you, the less scared you be of the changes life throws your way.
Let Go Of Regrets
Regrets are the worst things in life to have. They serve no good purpose, and only serve to hold you back. Life doesn’t go backwards, only forwards. So go in the direction of life and stop looking back.
If there’s one tenet in nature, it’s that all things seek balance. From dogs, to trees, to our very selves, we’re constantly striving for balance in our lives. A life out of balance is an unhealthy one. And without your health, you can forget all these tips because you’ve got nothing. So make sure to prioritize your life so that you stay as balanced (and healthy) as possible.
Face Your Fears
It’s all too easy to turn a blind eye to our fears and hope they go away on their own. Unfortunately, life doesn’t work life that. It’s our fears that keep us stuck. If you want to create real change, you’ll have to learn to confront your fears (be it leaving that partner or looking for that new job) – for when you do – is when you become unstuck and make the changes that’ll move you in the direction you want to go in life.
This is one of the hardest things to do. Especially when we live in a world that seems to be getting more judgmental by the day. Absolutely don’t listen to others that don’t matter. Be polite to those that do. Then take an honest look at yourself. Accepting the good things about you is easy. It’s the things you don’t like that once you accept, can truly start to improve.
Live In The Moment
Our busy, distracting world makes it almost impossible to look anywhere but at the present moment. Our minds seems to be perpetually stuck looking back, or ahead. But while hard to do, the only true joy you’ll ever experience is right now, in the present moment.
Learn Something New
With knowledge comes growth. And the more you learn, the more options you give yourself when life’s changes come knocking on your door. So read more, do more, meet more people. Be a sponge, absorbing everything you can. The more you know, the more you can take control of your life and change it for the better.
