People think that getting in shape, physically and mentally is this huge undertaking. They believe they have to join a gym, or enroll in some 10-step program. But as the saying goes, “Rome wasn’t built in a day”. The road to good health is paved in many little small steps. The following are a bunch of little health hacks you can apply daily, which over time, will bring out the healthy life you want to live.
Smell The Oranges
Science has proven that using orange essential oils improves your mood by reducing anxiety. It also makes you more alert, giving you more energy. Simply massage a couple of drops into your temples to see the benefits for yourself.
Lavender Your Pillow
Having a hard time falling a sleep? Try some aromatherapy. Place a couple of drops of lavender on your pillow before bed. Lavender is known for it’s calming properties.
The 20/20/20 Rule
The problem with our modern world is that we’re forced to stare at screens all day long. This is proving to be quite hazardous to our health on many levels. So make sure to apply the 20/20/20 rule, which every 20 minutes, take a 20 second break, and let your eyes wander over at something 20 feet away from you. Simple, and effective!
Meditate For A Minute
I know this one is hard for many, but meditation is truly a scientifically proven gift to your mental health. People think you need to spend hours a day doing it. But not so. Just 5 minutes a day makes a world of difference.
Get Off The Bus Early
Want to exercise but can’t fit it into your busy schedule? Nonsense. You just got to be creative. Use your morning commute as an opportunity to get your cardio up, by getting off a couple of bus stops early and walking.
Avoid Technology After Work
As mentioned before, our technology is killing us. For example, using your phone right up until you fall asleep has been shown to actually ruin the quality of our sleep. So make sure to turn off your phones as soon as possible once you’re done work.
Sea Salt Love
It’s always great when you find out something you already enjoy is actually healthy for you. Who knew that salt had many benefits that improve health? Well, science did. As long as it’s natural sea salt that is.
Take The Stairs
Want to get in shape but can’t find the time? Find some stairs instead. See if you can go a month without taking any elevators. The higher up you have to go, the better.
Have A No Booze Day
With all the stress that seems to be building up in our lives these days, people are turning to alcohol for relief. However, it should go without saying that excessive alcohol is bad for your health in so many ways. So have a No Drink Day at least four times a week.
If you remember one thing from this post it should be this: Green is good. Grass is green, trees are green, and so are veggies. Eat as many of them as you can. Science is still finding new benefits to eating leafy greens every day. Don’t like them? Put them in a smoothie with Mangos and Strawberries. You’ll grow to love it.
